Beach Read

I must say I didn't know what to expect from the title, but I was looking for something light and easy to read this summer and it did just that. There was great character building and evolving which always makes stories interesting and just enough intrigue and romance to keep you engaged.

Funny and crazy! They said they were going to surprise eachother which means it's less of a surprise. Gerald thought piggies was in trouble piggies thought Gerald was eating lunch. I loved City Spies because I think it's cool since it has spies in it and all of the different groups are working to take down the same one. Also I loved that there were a lot of kids with spy abilities like hacking.

This is a book about a boy named Oliver who was an orphan. He was so brave. When he was at a work house, he asked for more gravel to eat when he was not supposed to. He first went to a workhouse, with more people working. The owner, mr. Bumble, was neither kind, or generous. On Oliver’s ninth birthday, he took him to mr. Limbskins. He suggested that Oliver should work for a man named Fagin. He was a member in a group of thieves. He was very rich. Pleasantly gave lovely food. One day, they played a game. It was of memory. Oliver learned it very quickly. He surprised Fagin. He gave him two silver coins and praised him and told everyone else to do the same and learn like him. One night, he could not sleep. He saw Fagin riches. He was scared that he would tell so he told him to keep it a secret. My favorite part was the end. When he was adopted by a kind man.

Dracula
by Bram Stoker

Overall, I loved reading this book. The plot came together nicely and the characters were both compelling, and interesting to learn about. Dracula wasn't quite "horror" in the way that I was used to, instead of jump scares and gore, it used descriptions and a sense of suspense to build the reader's anxiety. The entire time that I was reading, I felt like the characters were real, which not many horror books can do. It didn't use cliches at all, the plot twists were well thought out and all made sense with what information the book had supplied previously. My only note is that there were a lot of casual sexist remarks made toward the middle, which was off-putting for me, even though I know that this book was made during a time when that was considered okay. It took me a lot of time to get through, but Dracula was definitely worth the read.

I liked this book because it had a happy ending and I love the word smile. I would recommend my friends read this book but I would tell them that there is one part that is a little scary.

My favorite part in this book was when Mr.Klutz jumped out of a plane in an ape suit and landed in a pizza that was going to be on TV and in The Guinness Book Of World Records, and Mr Tony jumped in to save him.

Amazing book, though very gruesome. Interesting concept. I have to get the next one; Catching Fire.
